Curriculum

Foundation Phase
At YAPS our teachers are professionally qualified, vibrant and enthusiastic about high-quality teaching and making a difference in each child’s life. YAPS follows the criteria of the National Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS). Our Foundation Phase also uses the Jolly Phonics Program, which is a fun approach, with movements, songs, and stories to teach Literacy.

Grades R -3
We offer the CAPS Curriculum where the learners learn the basic skills, concepts and knowledge required for further learning. The controlled class sizes allow our teachers to pay individual attention to learners to ensure high-quality education.
Subjects:
• The three main learning areas are:
• Language - English Home Language and Afrikaans First Additional Language, isiXhosa Second Language.
• Mathematics
• Life Skills - includes Beginning knowledge, Personal and Social Well-Being, Creative Arts and Physical Education.


Intermediate Phase (Grades 4 to 6)
In the Intermediate Phase, we offer the CAPS Curriculum where learners are led into more abstract thought and independent work. We aim to prepare learners for the Senior Phase in the High School.

Senior Phase (Grade 7)
Young Ambassadors Primary School strives to provide excellent learning opportunities for all our students. We aim to prepare students for academic success and on developing life-long learners.
